Expo 2015 is the current Universal Exposition being hosted by Milan, Italy. The Expo event will be from 1st May to 31 October 2015. The theme chosen for the 2015 Milan Universal Exposition is Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. This embraces technology, innovation, culture, traditions and creativity and how they relate to food and diet.
Culture Ireland is seeking expressions of interest from Irish artists and arts. Reel Note have been asked, as 1 of 3 bands, to represent Ireland’s traditional music as inclusion in the culture programme to be presented by Ireland at EXPO Milan 2015.
World EXPOs occur every five years and offer a significant international opportunity to showcase the strength of Ireland's creativity on the world stage. The culture programme events should influence visitors’ perception of Ireland and its culture, recognising that culture is a link to developing trade and tourism connections. It is proposed that the culture programme will be cross art forms and reflect strong interest in our history and tradition, particularly music, dance and literature while engagement with contemporary influences is of crucial importance.
