The Reel Note Ceili Band, based in and around Birmingham in the English Midlands, is a group of English musicians of Irish heritage who for many years have been achieving individual and group success in All-Ireland and All-England Irish music festivals and have earned their reputation on the tough Irish set-dancing circuit for pace, passion and precision.

Individual musicians, committed to promoting the future of Irish music and culture through teaching at the Birmingham branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. But when together the Reel Note Ceili Band takes a step away from the cloister of tradition into a world of opportunities to add originality, cultural borrowings and personal styles to the solid foundations of discipline.

Reel Note is often joined by regular guest musicians, bringing an extra dimension to the sound

Reel Note music resonates with echoes of generations of ancestors who learned and played the same tunes through the centuries; of emigrants and sailors who shared and learned new melodies; of legendary musicians who added polish and popularity and proved that competition paves the way to excellence. And those like themselves who wanted the challenge of learning to play an instrument now carry the tradition forward to a new audience.

The Reel Note Ceili Band is proudly Irish in style, loves the music and loves to entertain, multi-instrumentalists who individually have performed as artists and in competitions as far afield as Australia, Canada, China, Europe, Turkey and the USA to audiences as diverse as diplomats and naturists, but not necessarily at the same time. A good tune travels well and the Band is equally at home to a Scottish Ceilidh or an English Barn Dance.

Reel Note made their recording debut “Depends on the Speed of the Day” in January 2008 and a second album is in concept.
