The History of the Festival
Codsall Community Arts Festival began in 1978 and has been a biennial event ever since. The first Festival was a weekend event based on the facilities at Codsall Community High School, which remains its base today. The length and scope of the Festival grew over the years until it reached its present length of about eighteen days.
The aim of the Festival is to bring local, national, and where possible, international talent to the area and to cater for the range of interests within the community. The Festival therefore encompasses theatre, classical music, jazz, light music, dance, literature, crafts, and talks and demonstrations on a range of activities. There are also workshops and competitions to involve local people of all ages.
